Richmond is satisfied with the 2012 fixture released today by the AFL.

The Tigers have been given nine home games at the MCG, with just one at Etihad Stadium and the other at Cairns’ Cazalys Stadium. The Club will again kick off the season with a Round 1 home game against Carlton at the MCG on Thursday, March 29.

Richmond will finish its home-and-away campaign with an MCG match against Port Adelaide at a date and time to be confirmed.

“Overall, we’re content with the way the fixture has panned out for us, from both a football and commercial viewpoint,” said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.

“Having nine home games at our home ground, the MCG, and 13 in total there, is a terrific result that I’m sure our supporters will appreciate.

“We are pleased to be hosting Carlton in our traditional season-opener, and with other home blockbuster matches against Essendon and Hawthorn.

“The increase in Saturday afternoon games is another positive, as is the fact our fans will see the Tigers more frequently on free-to-air TV, compared to 2011.

“We are also excited about continuing to assist with the growth of the game by playing a home match in Cairns for the second year-in-a-row.

“And, I know our players and coaches are really looking forward to taking on the challenges presented in the fixture.”
