Richmond great Matthew Richardson has nominated the form of Dylan Grimes as one of his major Tiger highlights of the 2018 season.
Grimes averaged 11.5 disposals, 3.2 marks and 3.6 tackles per match in his 23 games. He was ranked 13th in the competition for one-percenters and 14th for total intercepts.
His influence within Richmond’s line-up throughout the season, however, extended way beyond those raw statistical numbers.
“The development of Dylan Grimes into just about, if not, the best one-on-one defender in the competition,” Richardson said on this week’s edition of ‘Talking Tigers’.
“He was outstanding all year.
“He doesn’t get beaten very often . . . When he went on to (Jordan) De Goey after half-time (in last Friday night’s preliminary final v Collingwood), De Goey died out of the game.”
