While Richmond star Brett Deledio has been sidelined with a calf injury over the past few weeks, he’s taken the opportunity to watch a bit of the Tigers’ VFL team in action.
Deledio has particularly liked what he’s seen from a couple of Tiger cubs who he’s confident, in time, will graduate to senior ranks and provide Richmond’s side with valuable, line-breaking run.
The Tigers’ second pick (No 33 overall) in last year’s National Draft, Connor Menadue, and second pick (No. 29 overall) in the ensuing rookie draft, Jason Castagna, have been identified by Deledio as talented, young players well worth keeping an eye on.

“I’m really impressed with ‘Georgie’ Castagna, more so than any of the boys at the moment because he just runs and takes the game on,” Deledio said on this week’s episode of the Club’s official podcast ‘Talking Tigers’.

“He probably just needs that little bit of polish to finish, but he’s getting it, and that’s the hardest part in footy . . .
“If we can just work on that little bit of polish at the end, then he’ll certainly be a player.
“Connor Menadue, he just adds that spark.
“He’s a bit like Isaac Smith and Brad Hill for Hawthorn . . . he can just run all day, and he’s quick.
“He takes them on and he doesn’t mind backing himself . . .”
