Young forward Liam Fawcett has been given the call up to make his AFL debut against Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Fittingly, the South Australian will get his first chance in front of his home crowd with family and friends in tow.

After an interrupted first season at Punt Road due to glandular fever and a back stress fracture, Fawcett has utilised a full pre-season to earn the jumper in Round 2.

The 19-year-old was selected by Richmond with pick 43 in the 2023 AFL Draft, but managed just three VFL games late last season due to his injury setbacks.

Standing at 197cm, the key forward has been prolific on the training track and through VFL practice matches leading into the 2025 season proper.

Against the Blues in the third and final VFL practice match, Fawcett managed a solid three goals in the 19-point victory.

He is a strong marking presence with agility and a long booming kick that can assist the Tigers' forward line against Port Adelaide.

The teenager becomes the Club’s fourth debutant in 2025, following 2024 draftees Sam Lalor, Luke Trainor and Harry Armstrong’s first game in Round 1 against Carlton.

Fawcett will debut at Adelaide Oval, when the Tigers face off against Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Richmond will name its full team for Round 2 at 6.20pm this Thursday on richmondfc.com.au.
