Long before big Ivan Maric was even born, there was a cult hero at Tigerland with long, flowing hair, who thrived on the physical side of the game, and proudly wore the No. 20 guernsey.

Jimmy Jess was one of the most popular players to ever don the famous Yellow and Black colors.

‘The Ghost’, as he was very affectionately known, continually thrilled the Tiger Army throughout his 223-game career for Richmond from 1976-88 with his bold, aggressive playing style, high marking, and long kicking.

Nearly a quarter of a century after his playing career with the Tigers ended, The Ghost remains a favorite among those Yellow and Black barrackers who relished watching him in action.

Modern-day Tiger icon, Matthew Richardson, caught up with Jimmy in his latest major ‘Roar Vision’ feature.

In a thoroughly enthralling, entertaining interview, among a host of subjects covered, The Ghost (in his inimitable fashion) talks about the 1980 premiership triumph, the great camaraderie within the playing group at that time, Tony Jewell’s coaching attributes, Helen D’Amico’s streak in the 1982 Grand Final (and catching up with her many years later), the other side of Mick Malthouse, Punt Road practical jokes, his cult status at Tigerland, his amazing country football record, his love of the Tigers, and gives his thoughts on the current Richmond team.

It is a must-see, trip down memory lane, with ‘Richo’ bringing out the best in a wonderful, unique Tiger character.
