Tigers claim Chaplin
Richmond has secured the services of restricted free agent Troy Chaplin, after Port Adelaide decided not to match the offer made by the Tigers last Monday.
The Chaplin announcement follows the arrival at Tigerland of ex-Crow and unrestricted free agent Chris Knights, who signed a three-year deal with the Club on the first day of the free agency period.
“We identified Troy as a player who could provide significant benefit to the Club, both on-field with his playing ability, and in a leadership capacity off-field,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

“We have a young, developing defensive group, and Troy is well-equipped to provide the necessary know-how and experience to assist the likes of Alex Rance, Dylan Grimes, Jake Batchelor and Ben Griffiths.”
Chaplin, 26, has played 140 games for the Power, in a league career, which started in 2004.
The 195cm key defender finished equal fourth in Port Adelaide’s Best and Fairest this year, after being runner-up in 2010 and third in 2009. He also won an AFL Rising Star nomination in 2006.
