Members since 1960, Dot and Geoff Burks are yellow and black through and through.
A lifelong Richmond fan, Dot convinced Geoff to join her as a Tigers supporter when they met, and they have been members together ever since.
Dot and Geoff recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary and their love of the Tigers has spread through the whole family. Daughter Karen, son Philip and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, are all fanatical supporters; Karen sharing that “they had no choice!” It is believed that some of the grandchildren’s first words included “Yellow and Black".
An old next-door neighbour was good mates with Kevin Sheedy, so whenever he was over to visit, Dot and Geoff would pop over for a chat; ‘Sheeds’ becoming a favourite. Through the years Dot adored Matthew Richardson and Chris Bond, and in more recent times Dot and Geoff have both been starstruck by ‘Dusty’s’ brilliance on the field.
For many years Dot volunteered in the Club shop, and considers the Richmond Football Club as an extension of her own family. Dot and Geoff have made many wonderful friends through the years, a couple of them they still talk too and share wonderful Tiger memories with. It was these special times at the Club that inspired them to become Neville Crowe’s Legacy members. Dot has spoken of Neville’s kind and generous nature.
“He would always make the effort to come and visit us when we were working in the shop, we were all volunteers back then!” Dot said.
Dot and Geoff have always done all they can to help their beloved Tigers, and we thank them for their generous support.
