Richmond has emerged from the October player movement period in a strong position, with the National Draft around the corner.

The Tigers’ General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron, was pleased with the way the Club approached the trade period, and the AFL’s inaugural free agency window.

“I think we were really well planned.  Being able to do the two free agents (Chris Knights and Troy Chaplin) very early on was good.  It showed Blair Hartley had planned for that period pretty well,” Cameron said on the Tiger Trade Central panel show, on Roar Vision.

“We re-analysed our list halfway through the period…it was obvious we had a risk in the forward area, from a goalkicking perspective.

“That meant we went out and looked for Aaron (Edwards).  From a draft perspective, he wasn’t going to cost us any of our early selections, so we were happy to go down that path.”

Throughout the trade and free agency period, Richmond kept one eye on the National Draft, which will be held on the Gold Coast on November 22.

“Francis (Jackson) and Blair work very closely together.  Everything we did during trade week, we spoke to Francis about,” Cameron said.

“When we go to this draft, the way it sits at the moment, we’ll have four selections, and they’ll all be in the first two rounds.”
