Richmond debutant Todd Elton is determined to approach his first AFL game this weekend in the same manner he would with the marks he enjoys flying for.

“I’m definitely going to take it with both hands . . . I’m excited for the opportunity,” an excited Elton told ‘Roar Vision’.

The talented, teenage, Tiger ‘tall’ was brought into the match committee room at Punt Road today and given the good news of his selection for the clash with Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

“They told me they’ve been really impressed with how I’ve been going and I get the opportunity this week, so it’s pretty exciting times . . .

“’Dimma’ gave me advice to play pretty much how I’ve been playing . . . just keep working on my leading patterns and to keep flying for the ball.

“Since I’m not a massive figure, I’ve been told to stay off and keep active, rather than locking on . . .

“Going for contested marks is probably my key at the moment.  Because of my mobility and athleticism, I like to use my leap, which is one of my attributes.”

Elton’s aim for the rest of the season is to cement himself as a regular in the Richmond line-up.

“I’m going to give it my all on the weekend, and see if I can stay consistent and stay in the side . . . I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
