Richmond forward/ruckman Tyrone Vickery will undergo a shoulder reconstruction and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2012 season.

Vickery, who finished fifth in last year’s Jack Dyer Medal, has missed the Tigers’ past two matches with knee soreness, but his shoulder has been an on-going concern after he received a heavy knock to it during the pre-season.

“We have tried to manage Tyrone through this season with his shoulder, but, ultimately, it was impacting his performance and the best course of action is to get it fixed now, so he is able to complete a full 2013 pre-season,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

Meanwhile, talented, young defender Dylan Grimes suffered further hamstring damage in last Saturday’s match against Adelaide and he is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.

“Dylan sustained a hamstring tendon injury in his left leg, which is the opposite to his season-ending one last year and not as significant,” Cameron said.

“We don’t anticipate it requiring surgery, and we’re currently in the process of exploring treatment options.”

In further injury news from Tigerland, scans have revealed livewire small forward Jake King suffered a grade two strain of the medial ligament in his left knee during last Saturday’s clash with the Crows and he will miss about four weeks.
