It’s a special moment that will be indelibly etched in Brett O’Hanlon’s mind . . . receiving his Richmond guernsey from Tiger great Roger Dean in the MCG change-rooms before his league debut against Fremantle last Saturday.

O’Hanlon listened intently, as the dual Richmond premiership player (1969 premiership captain) and Tigers’ Team of the Century member, spoke about the significance of the occasion - playing your first game at the elite level with such a proud, famous club.

The 18-year-old had to wait a while to get out on the field of battle, having been handed the substitute’s vest.

But, when O’Hanlon received his opportunity late in the game, he didn’t let anyone down.  He had six kicks, two handballs and took two marks in the soggy conditions, in his limited game time, to underline the potential that caught the eye of the Tigers in the first place.
