Rising star Richmond defender Dylan Grimes is making solid progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in the Round 8 Dreamtime at the ‘G match against Essendon on May 19.

The 20-year-old, who had been in fine early-season form, injured his left hamstring midway through the second quarter of the Dreamtime clash and has been sidelined since.

His return to the playing field, however, appears imminent.

“He ran really strongly today,” Richmond’s Elite Performance Manager Matthew Hornsby told ‘Roar Vision’.

“He’s got a couple of boxes to tick from a running and strength point of view, which he’s going really well with, and that will allow him to train fully next week.

“Then, we’ll look to play him either on the bye weekend, or give him another week of training . . .”
