Richmond is confident livewire forward Jake King will not be hindered in his preparation for next season, after undergoing a range of post-season surgeries.

King missed a total of eight matches through injury this year (plus another two due to suspension) and, despite still being a valuable contributor, he was frustrated by a lack of continuity with his football.

The 28-year-old was sidelined with knee problems in Rounds 3-5, and then again from Rounds 15-17, before a fractured toe forced him to miss the final two games of the season.

Since then, King has visited hospital four times for surgery, in a bid to get his body ready for the Tigers’ 2013 campaign.

“It’s not unusual for players to have clean-ups in the off-season, and Jake carried some injury concerns throughout 2012, which needed attention,” said Richmond’s new Elite Performance Manager, Peter Burge.

“Everything has gone to plan so far in his recovery, and he is on track to play a big part in pre-season training.

“Barring any setbacks, he will be ready for the start of the 2013 season.”

The Richmond playing group will return for pre-season training in early November.
