Richmond may be a warm favorite going into Saturday night’s clash with Port Adelaide at Darwin’s TIO Stadium, but its record against the Power is clearly no cause for any over-confidence seeping in.

The Tigers have won just six of 19 games they’ve contested with Port Adelaide since the SA club entered the AFL competition in 1997. That’s a winning percentage of just 31.6%, which is Richmond’s lowest against any league rival.

The fact the Tigers’ best winning sequence against Port is only two, further highlights the Power problems they have encountered over the past decade-plus.

Richmond did break through for its first win of the 2010 season, when it defeated Port Adelaide by 47 points in rain-soaked conditions at AAMI Stadium in this corresponding round last year.  The Power, however, turned the tables in Round 22, jumping out to a nine-goal lead at half-time, before withstanding a Tiger second-half surge, to win by 10 points.

This is the first time Richmond and Port will do battle at TIO Stadium, although the Power has played six times previously at the venue, for two wins and four losses.
