Dynamic Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin was the sole Tiger to poll votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for the Round 7 clash with Hawthorn.
Martin received three votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Alastair Clarkson (Hawthorn) for his strong performance under the MCG lights last Friday night.
In the absence of injured skipper and midfield star Trent Cotchin, he embraced the added responsibility, finishing with a team-high 28 disposals, including 15 contested possessions, six clearances, five inside-50s, plus five tackles in the Tigers’ 46-point defeat.
It was the second time this season Martin has been Richmond’s leading vote-getter in the AFLCA Player of the Year award voting.
He picked up seven votes in the Tigers’ narrow Round 2, Friday night loss to Collingwood.
