Richmond will continue to counsel Jake King about off-field conduct after he was photographed at a sporting event with a large group of friends, which included former bikie boss Toby Mitchell.
King will not face official sanctions after attending the Australian Fighting Championships and the Legends Football League with Mitchell.
“Jake’s relationship with Toby Mitchell pre-dates his time at Richmond, and we understand they attended a couple of sporting events together on Saturday,” said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.
“Certainly we'll have a discussion with him. These are instructive opportunities to remind all players of the risk involved.
"We're particularly mindful of the circumstances this year with the Australian Crime Commission report, and we’ve brought it to Jake's attention, and others at the Club. Like all players at all clubs, they should be mindful of those associations.
"In light of that, we're disappointed to see that in the paper today.
"We've brought it to Jake's attention that he should think long and hard about those sorts of friendships and connections and associations.
"We don't offer hard-and-fast rules to our players about who they should and shouldn't associate with. We provide advice and guidance, but as adults we expect them to make their own decisions.”
