Determined Richmond small defender Steven Morris has fully endorsed the Club’s decision to extend senior coach Damien Hardwick’s contract at Tigerland.
The Club announced last week that Hardwick had signed on for a further two seasons on top of next year, meaning he will remain remain as Richmond’s coach until at least the end of 2016.
“He’s been a fantastic coach for me in my development and it’s going to be great for the Club having him, going forward,” Morris said.
“It’s really good to have a consistent game plan and those structures. So, it’s fantastic to have a really good person at the helm of our footy club.”
Morris also spoke with immense pride about seeing his father, Kevin, a dual Richmond premiership player, receive Life Membership of the Club at the Annual General Meeting last week.
“It was a fantastic night for our family,” Morris said.
“Personally, it was great just being able to see how happy it made him, and that he was able to get that recognition. Mum was pretty chuffed to see him up on stage and getting the recognition that he really deserves.
“So, 40 years on now, from when he won his premierships here, still getting recognition is something that he’ll really value.
“I always joke that he tells me how good he was, because I’m a couple of premierships behind him at this stage. But the people that talk of his career, certainly talk about the courage that he played with.
“He wasn’t as talented as some of the players in his era, but he certainly had a crack, and that’s what I look to do as well.”
