A boost in midfield depth remains Richmond’s main recruiting priority during the AFL’s annual talent-acquisition period, and the Tigers strongly believe they can achieve this via the November National Draft.
“Midfield depth is still the direction that we’re going in . . . we feel confident that there’s some quality midfielders in this year’s draft pool,” Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson said on the ‘Bingle Recruitment Zone’.
“It’s a fairly deep pool, and we think we can get some quality players through there . . .

“A lot’s been said of the likes of Christian Petracca, Angus Brayshaw, and some of these players.
“They’ll probably be gone before our first pick, but there are some other quality midfielders there.
“As we see every year, some of those players can come in immediately and have an impact. Others might take a year or two, but there’s no doubt there’s depth of sort of 35-40 players there, that we’re really confident can really help us . . .
“A lot of the recruiting guys – like Francis Jackson – have been around a lot longer than me in this caper, but their general feeling is that the depth is really strong.
“Certainly, most clubs seem to be pretty comfortable with being able to have picks into the 40s and 50s even, which suggests that it’s got some real depth.”
