Richmond’s players took a break from pre-season training to visit 30 primary schools across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne this week.
The players spoke to students about The Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s Better Buddies program, and the importance of values such as respect, friendliness and caring for each other.
The Better Buddies program is run in more than 1000 schools throughout Australia, and promotes positive behaviours to reduce the incidence of bullying in the school community.
Merryn, a teacher from Mount Waverley Primary School, described the impact Richmond defender Dylan Grimes had on the students during the visit.
“He was absolutely amazing, he has such a warm and inviting personality, gets down on the kids level and looks like he genuinely enjoyed the time in the schools,” she said.
“He is an amazing ambassador for not only the Richmond Football Club, but for the AFL.”
