Dynamic Richmond midfielder Nathan Foley is getting back to career-best form, since returning from an Achilles injury which ended his 2012 season.
Foley returned to the Tigers’ senior side in Round 7 against Port Adelaide, after being sidelined since July last year, and admitted it has taken time to get back into the swing of things.
“It took a little bit to get going, but I’m getting some continuity in training and playing, and I feel like I’m slowly improving week to week,” he said.
Foley finished with 23 disposals and two goals in Richmond’s convincing 64-point win over St Kilda last Sunday at the MCG.
He also racked up his highest tally of kicks, marks and goals in a match this season, finishing as one of the most dominant players on the field.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick praised Foley’s effort, and his importance to the team, in the post-game press conference.
“Nathan is a part of that midfield depth that we speak about, that can go through various areas of the ground and some stages, on the wing… he’ll be half-forward, he’ll be half-back,” Hardwick said.
“You’ve got to remember he missed a large chunk of last year, so it was always going to take a period of time, but I think his last three weeks we've been really pleased with.”
