Richmond’s VFL affiliate Coburg almost pulled off an unlikely upset over ladder-leader Geelong yesterday.

The Tigers held a three-point lead at three-quarter time against the in-form Cats, but were eventually overrun and suffered a 20-point loss.

Coburg was bolstered by the inclusion of Shane Tuck, who collected 31 disposals (17 contested) and won 10 clearances on his return from a shoulder injury.

There were also strong performances from Ricky Petterd (32 possessions and 11 marks), Robin Nahas (28 disposals), Sam Lonergan (24 possessions and 10 tackles) and youngster Matt McDonough (24 disposals).

The Tigers had four multiple goalkickers, led by Luke McGuane, who booted three goals.

Coburg travels to play Frankston this Sunday, July 7.
