Dear Members and Supporters,
In just over a week, the 2020 season will recommence, and I know that is something we are all looking forward to. It will look and feel different to any season we have known, but playing at the MCG next Thursday night against our old foe, Collingwood, is a welcome return to some form of normality.
We wish our players and coaches all the best for what lies ahead. We have had a significantly disrupted season but, throughout this time, our players and coaches have maintained a focus on being as prepared as they can be for the resumption of play.
The players and football staff involved in our program at the Swinburne Centre during the week are still following very strict protocols to protect their own health and safety and that of the broader community. This includes twice-weekly testing, temperature checks on arrival at the Club, social distancing in meeting rooms and regular (daily and sometimes hourly) deep cleaning of the facility. The football department is subject to greater restrictions than we are in the general public. Despite all this, and judging by the smiles and laughter I am seeing through the Club’s digital channels, they are a very happy group and are pleased to be back together.

Clearly, we all wish that we could be with the team next Thursday night, but the team knows that the Tiger Army will be supporting them from lounge rooms all around the country and beyond. No decision has been made as to whether attendance will be allowed during the rest of the home and away season or finals.
While football will return, I want to acknowledge that many of the Club’s staff have been significantly affected by the COVID shutdown and life is still far from normal. As a Club, we have had to make some very difficult decisions while we navigate these unique circumstances.
Our staff love this Club and have all played a role in delivering our recent success. All have also contributed to building a culturally strong Club that stands for something and makes our members proud. There is still uncertainty around the future shape of the AFL and the 18 clubs and that requires patience from us all.
Of course, the foundation for steering this Club through these difficult times has been our loyal members. It is truly humbling to have so many members committing to keeping this Club strong despite the challenges many of you might also be facing. Your financial and moral support is a source of confidence for the entire Club. To those who need to talk to our great membership team about managing your membership please request a call back at a time that is convenient for you or chat via Messenger.
Stay healthy and safe and enjoy the opportunity to watch the reigning premiers in action next Thursday night.
Together we will Fight and Fight and Win.
Go Tigers.
