A superb performance from Richmond star Brett Deledio in last Friday night’s clash with Hawthorn at the MCG earned him nine votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for Round 18.
Deledio was the top vote-getter for the match after picking up 18 disposals, including nine contested possessions, seven score involvements, three inside-50s, a game-high four goals, along with an equal team-high six tackles in the Tigers’ 18-point win.
The dual Jack Dyer Medallist set the scene early for Richmond, kicking three goals in a brilliant opening quarter burst.

Tough, young Tiger midfielder Anthony Miles received seven coaches from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Alastair Clarkson (Hawthorn) for an excellent display that netted him a team-high 30 disposals, including a game-high 18 contested possessions (five more than the next player on the ground), a game-high eight inside-50s, an equal game-high seven clearances, six score involvements and five intercept possessions.
Richmond captain Trent Cotchin, vice-captain Ivan Maric, and star key defender Alex Rance, polled four votes apiece for their strong efforts throughout the match.
Cotchin had 24 disposals, including 13 contested possessions and an equal team-high seven clearances.
Maric had 14 disposals, including 10 contested possessions and four inside-50s, took seven marks (a game-high five contested grabs among them) and won a game-high 31 hit-outs.
Rance had 18 disposals, including an equal game-high intercept possessions, and he took six marks.
