"Not the result (we were looking for v Brisbane). But came through pretty well. No new injuries, which we're happy with," Serpell told Richmond Media on Tuesday.
"There was some good game time, good experience into some of our young lads."
Josh Smillie had a successful VFL debut on Saturday, collecting 10 disposals while playing on managed minutes in a win over the Lions.
"Josh is looking really good after that game. We're all excited to see him back out there," he said.
Meantime, Hugo Ralphsmith also made his return via the VFL.
"Hugo's GPS numbers were through the roof. It was a really good demonstration from him to say that he's ready to go. Hopefully this weekend he's another discussion at the selection table," Serpell said.
Liam Fawcett
Concussion, Test
"Liam's protocol today was to get through some training with modified contact. He got through that successfully.
"He'll have a day off tomorrow and then we'll go full contact training Wednesday.
"Provided he gets through that without any headaches or symptoms, we'll get him available for selection this weekend."
Kane McAuliffe
Foot, 1-2 weeks
"Kane presented to training a couple of days ago with some soreness in his foot. We took a precautionary approach. We sought expert opinion from inside and outside the Club.
"What we've found in the last little while is that he's responded to a little bit of downtime.
"Whilst we'll rest him this week, he'll probably be available for selection the following week, in the week we play Gold Coast."
Rhyan Mansell
Shoulder, 2-3 weeks
"Rhyan sustained a shoulder injury back in our game against Port Adelaide. Obviously he put in a mountain of work the week after and got himself up for the game against St Kilda.
"Unfortunately, he re-injured his shoulder then (against St Kilda). We'd always made a decision that we were going to jab his shoulder the following week (Round 4), to put him in a good position and give him a bit of downtime.
"He's progressing quite well and will be available for selection once he serves his ban."
Dion Prestia
Achilles, 3-4 weeks
"Dion's still going through (rehab). No real progression on him.
"He's probably going to go through more of a plateau at the moment, until we can see that he's progressing well.
"We'll have some updates on him as soon as we can."
Judson Clarke
ACL, 2-4 weeks
"All going to plan, he's (Judson) available to play in the next 2-4 weeks now."
Mykelti Lefau, Tylar Young, Taj Hotton, Josh Gibcus
ACLs, TBC
"The ACL guys are taking real big advances at the moment.
"Just last week we took them over to AAMI Park and did some testing with Dean from Prepared To Play. We got some extra little results from him, to see where they're at and where they're tracking.
"Happy to say they're tracking fantastically."
