Exciting Richmond small forward Shai Bolton’s dazzling display against Fremantle at Optus Stadium last Sunday earned him the most votes by a Tiger in the AFL Coaches’ Association Player of the Year award voting for Round 8.
Bolton, who combined intense defensive pressure (equal game-high seven tackles) with top-class finishing (four goals), received six votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Ross Lyon (Fremantle).

Dashing defender Bachar Houli was the next best Richmond Round 8 vote-getter, picking up five after concluding the match with a team-high 30 disposals, including an equal game-high six rebound-50s, three inside-50s, seven intercepts, 10 marks and 515 metres gained.
Hard-running utility Brandon Ellis’ impressive showing – 25 disposals, three inside-50s, seven marks, six tackles and a goal – earned him four votes.

Prized key-forward recruit Tom Lynch collected three votes for his strong performance – 15 disposals, eight marks, including a game-high six contested grabs, two goals and eight score involvements.
Rounding out the Round 8 Richmond vote-getters in the prestigious coaches’ award were valuable, hard-working utility Kamdyn McIntosh (two) and star backman Dylan Grimes (one).
