Sam Lloyd’s sensational grab against Adelaide, at Etihad Stadium in Round 3, has been voted the best Richmond mark of season 2016 by Tiger fans.
A trademark spearing left-foot kick from running backman Bachar Houli was delivered deep into Richmond’s forward line, where Lloyd soared above a pack containing two Crows and teammate Shane Edwards to pull down a magnificent mark.
So high did the clever forward fly, he ended up marking the ball on his chest, in a manner reminiscent of former champion full-forward Michael Roach’s Tigerland Mark of the Century, which he took back in 1979.
It highlighted Lloyd’s capacity to pose major problems for opposition defences, both in the air and at ground level.
