Richmond is excited to announce the appointment of former AFL star Brendan Fevola as a specialist coach for the upcoming AFLW season.
Fevola, one of the most talented and iconic forwards in AFL history, will bring his vast experience and unique skillset to the Tigers, focusing on key aspects of forward play, development, craft, and skill acquisition.
The 44-year-old is no stranger to coaching, having held the senior coach position at Yarrawonga in the strong Ovens and Murray Football League. He also coached the country powerhouse’s interleague side for two years.
Richmond Head of Women’s Football Kate Sheahan said that Richmond’s players would benefit greatly from Fevola’s expertise and energy.
“To have a former champion of the game so passionate and invested in women’s football is exactly the type of person we want involved in our program,” Sheahan said.

“His energy is infectious; he has coached his own team, and his on-field resume speaks for itself. However, what has really stood out when talking to Brendan—who is, of course, a father of four girls—is his genuine excitement for women’s football.
“Brendan will regularly be on the track at our training sessions, and our players are thrilled to have him on board.”
Fevola is a three-time All Australian and two-time Coleman Medallist. He booted 623 goals across 204 games.
In other AFLW coaching changes, assistant coach (backs) Nathan Chapman will step back from the line coaching position in the AFLW program, due to his increasing commitments with Prokick Australia.
Chapman, who will remain at Richmond, where he has been since 2019, is the Director and Founder of Prokick, a company that coaches emerging Australian punters towards scholarships and contracts in US college football and the NFL.
Prokick Australia has facilitated over 270 full scholarships to US colleges, with 29 players receiving NFL contracts.
“Nathan will remain a big part of our program; however, due to Prokick continuing to expand and the increasing demands that come with that, he will step away from his line coaching position,” Sheahan said.
“What Nathan is doing with Prokick is incredible, and at the same time, we are rapt that our AFLW players will be able to continue working with him going forward, because he makes a big impact with our athletes as well.”
Richmond will announce a replacement for Chapman at a later date.
