Star key defender Alex Rance produced another perfect performance for Richmond, in Sunday’s four-point loss to Geelong at the MCG.
Rance was awarded the maximum votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for Round 21.
Respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Chris Scott (Geelong) gave Rance 10 out of 10 for his brilliant display.
The dual All-Australian and reigning Jack Dyer Medallist had 20 disposals, including a team-high eight intercepts, four rebound-50s, took nine marks and repeatedly repelled attacking thrusts by the Cats in superb trademark style.
Dynamic midfielder Dustin Martin was the only other Tiger to poll coaches votes in the Round 21 clash.
Martin received four votes after finishing the match with a game-high 36 disposals, including a team-high nine inside-50s, an equal team-high six rebound-50s, a team-high nine score involvements, five marks and four tackles. He also had a game-high 814 metres gained.
