The AFL’s decision to reduce the interchange cap from 120 to 90 rotations for each team per game in season 2016 has had a marked impact on Richmond’s pre-season training program.

“A lot of our core players have had to learn different roles,” the Tigers’ midfield coach Brendon Lade told ‘Roar Vision’.

“With the rotations coming down, it’s harder for the group to be able to have as many rests as they did last year.

“I think a lot of the teams will be doing the same thing and (have their players) learning a lot of different positions.

“Our older guys, if they were just midfielders, they’re learning a different position as well.

“So it’s exciting at the moment, and we’ll see how it goes when we go into the games for real.”
