Midfield grunt was a recruiting priority for Richmond at the end of last season . . . and it looks like the Tigers have added plenty through the procurement of a couple of robust competitors from rival league clubs.
Andrew Moore (Port Adelaide) and Jacob Townsend (Greater Western Sydney) have made quite an impression during Richmond’s pre-season campaign due to the tough, uncompromising way they go about their football.

“I’m a bit worried about Moore and Townsend going at our players too hard at the moment. But it’s really good for the group to have a couple of players like that in there and putting that pressure on,” the Tigers’ midfield coach Brendon Lade told ‘Roar Vision’.
“’Moorey’ has added a little bit of flexibility with his run and toughness in the middle.
“He can play inside and outside, which is handy for us.
"‘Towner’ is just a competitive beast . . . loves the contact, loves trying to hurt people.
“He hasn’t done that much at our guys yet, but hopefully he does against the ‘oppo’.”
2016 NAB Challenge ticketing information
With Richmond’s opening NAB Challenge match against Fremantle only a couple of weeks away (February 19), Lade outlined what the midfield group’s focus will be in the lead-up.
“We’ve had a good block up to now . . . we really want to hone the fitness and the skills for the midfield to lead into the Fremantle game,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to see how our midfield’s going to shape up going into NAB 1 and Round 1.”
