Hard-running midfielder Shaun Grigg was Richmond’s leading vote-getter in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award voting for the Round 8 clash with Fremantle at the MCG.

Grigg received five votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Ross Lyon (Fremantle) for his top-class performance in the Tigers’ two-point loss.

He finished the match with a team-high 31 disposals, including 11 contested possessions, a game-high nine inside-50s and five clearances, plus five marks and a team-high 546 metres gained.

Star key defender Alex Rance picked up four votes following another superb exhibition across Richmond’s backline.

Rance had 20 disposals, including eight contested possessions, a game-high 12 intercepts, team-high seven marks and a game-high 14 one-percenters.

Gun Tiger key forward Jack Riewoldt was given one vote for a 12-disposal display that included a team-high nine score involvements and three goals off his own boot, along with four marks.
