Clever Richmond forward Sam Lloyd certainly hasn’t rested on his laurels following that mighty, match-winning, after-the-final siren goal against Sydney at the MCG in Round 8.
Lloyd had 14 disposals and kicked a goal in the wild, forward-unfriendly conditions at Domain Stadium the week after, when the Tigers defeated Fremantle by 38 points.
And, he produced another sound performance in the team’s 38-point victory over Essendon at the MCG last Saturday night.
The 26-year-old finished with 13 disposals, six marks, a total of 301 metres gained, and two valuable goals.
He now has 18 goals from his 10 games this season, which places him in second place on Richmond’s 2016 goalkicking list behind Jack Riewoldt on 24.
In 30 senior appearances all-up with the Tigers, Lloyd has scored 41 goals.
“I’m getting that confidence playing week in, week out, which is good . . . The main thing is not get complacent, which I never will, and just keep up that pressure, which I was probably a bit down on tonight (Saturday night),” Lloyd told K-Rock in a post-game interview.
“I try and aim for that average two goals a game . . .
“We sat down at the start of the year and worked out a couple of goals for myself . . . It was around that (two goals per game) and also having an impact with goal assists, which are as good as goals.
“I’m happy with the way I’m playing, but more to the point, happy that we’re starting to get a few wins on the board.”
