Toby Nankervis took another bold stride forward in a stellar debut season at Richmond with his performance against Fremantle at Domain Stadium yesterday.
The inexperienced ruckman, in his 20th game for the Tigers (plus 12 at Sydney), finished with an AFL career-high 26 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five clearances, four marks, six score involvements, six tackles, 14 pressure acts, 32 hit-outs, one goal and 239 metres gained.
Those 26 disposals were the equal most racked up by an AFL ruckman in the 2017 season (together with Adelaide’s Sam Jacobs).
Nankervis, who turned 23 earlier this month, is averaging an impressive 14.8 disposals per match this season, which highlights his skill level and mobility around the ground.
He’s hit the scoreboard as well, with 11 goals – the equal second most by a league ruckman for the season (alongside Matthew Kreuzer and Patrick Ryder).
Only Hawthorn’s McEvoy, with 14 goals, has scored more.
