“We got a really good look at what they can do and some of their really good, creative players . . . We’re under no illusions of what the Giants are capable of.”

“He’s (Davis) a good player and an important player to their team. He likes to take care of his opponent, but he’s also good at coming off and assisting in the air . . . So that’s going to be an important match-up for us . . . Probably the biggest strength with our forward line at the moment is we’re not too reliant on Jack. We obviously love it when he hits the scoreboard, but we’re finding other avenues to goal.”

“They’ve got some really good ball-winners and ball-hunters inside. They’re the ones who are able to get the ball on the outside to Scully and Kelly and guys like that. So, there’s no doubt, like most games, it’s going to be won and lost inside the contest. We just need to make sure we’re winning our share inside, and hopefully we can transition the ball from there. But if they get more than their share from the clearances and contests, then some of their runners are really good ball-users.” 

Toby Greene’s capacity to have a major impact

“Toby Greene plays almost like a key forward, the way he marks the ball. He’s got that element of toughness about him and he’s strong in the contest. We’re going to need to play a good player on him, but also someone who can compete in the air with him.”

“He was a fantastic servant for our footy club for a long period of time. To play his 250^th game, back on the MCG, in a prelim. final, it’ll be huge for him. The last couple of weeks the Giants have done a few things a little bit differently with their personnel, in terms of Brett playing forward or back. So I’m sure we’ll have to prepare for both.”
