Jayden Short has been a revelation for Richmond this year with his excellent form as a small defender.

Short is averaging 19.2 disposals, 4.4 rebound-50s and 4.0 marks per game up to the midway mark of the home-and-away season. And he’s coming of an AFL career-high 28 disposals against Essendon in last Saturday night’s ‘Dreamtime at the G’ encounter.

But the 22-year-old, who missed out on a place in the Tigers’ 2017 premiership team, is far from getting carried away with how he’s been performing this season.

“It’s not too bad, I suppose,” Short told ‘Roar Vision’ at an Adelaide Oval training session in the lead-up to tonight’s big Round 12 clash with Port Adelaide.

“I’m just trying to stay in the team and do everything I can for the team.

“I’m loving playing with the boys and enjoying my footy. They’re making it fun for me . . .”

Short acknowledged that the Richmond defenders will need to be right on their collective game against Port Adelaide’s group of talented forwards.

“We’ve looked at them and they’ve obviously got some offensive weapons in their forward line. So it will take a bit for us to stop them, but we’re looking forward to the challenge on their home deck,” he said.
