Richmond coach Damien Hardwick feels his players will enter Thursday night’s blockbuster season-opener against traditional rival Carlton at the MCG, thoroughly prepared for battle.
“It’s been a long pre-season, every coach would tell you exactly the same thing, but there’s no doubt we’re ready to go,” Hardwick said.
“I think our side is very, very fit. They played some good footy in the NAB Cup games, we were 4-1, so we’re certainly looking forward to a really good game versus Carlton.
“The players have prepared well, and we’ve improved our talent – there’s no doubt about that.
“Our players have also got greater experience from 12 months previous.
“So, I think we’re in the best position to win a Round 1 encounter, than we have been, for a period of time.”
