Richmond trio Monique Conti, Eilish Sheerin and Ellie McKenzie have been named as the Club’s nominees for the 2024 AFL Players’ Association AFLW Most Valuable Player Award.
Voting for the AFLW MVP is a two-stage process, with players nominating their teammates in stage one before selecting from a competition-wide field in stage two.
Players cannot vote for a player from their own club during stage two of the voting process.
Conti is in the running for her second MVP title after becoming the first ever Richmond AFLW player to win the award back in 2022.
The 24-year-old enjoyed another standout season for the Tigers, averaging 25 disposals, six tackles and five clearances to secure an equal fourth-place finish in the league best and fairest.
The superstar midfielder collected a career-high 35 disposals against North Melbourne this season and became the first AFLW Tiger to reach 50 games for the club in the Week 4 win against Carlton.
Sheerin’s third season at AFLW level was another impressive one.
The 32-year-old hoisted strong averages of 18 disposals, seven tackles and five clearances out of the midfield for the Tigers this season.
Her finest performance was against the Demons in Week 8 where she collected a career-high 30 disposals, as well as 10 clearances, seven tackles and one goal.
After missing the majority of the 2023 season, young gun McKenzie was once again a significant contributor for the Tigers.
Like Conti and Sheerin, the former league Best First Year Player also collected her career-high in disposals this season.
The 22-year-old amassed 23 disposals to go along with seven marks in the Week 3 win against Sydney.
In other categories, Isabel Bacon has been nominated for the players’ Best First-Year Player, Beth Lynch for Most Courageous and skipper Katie Brennan for Best Captain.
