Richmond AFLW forward Caitlin Greiser says the Tigers are excited for this Sunday’s elimination final against Port Adelaide.
Speaking to Richmond Media ahead of Sunday’s elimination final, Greiser said “the whole group is so up and about, and so pumped.”
“It’s a really exciting time, and really special for us,” she said.
The former AFLW leading goalkicker and All-Australian is set to make her first finals appearance on Sunday afternoon.
“I came across to Richmond with a really exciting group and was really looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully making finals last year, unfortunately just missed out.”
“We’ve put in so much hard work over the past six-to-twelve months to try and get ourselves here, and really exciting to come up against Port Adelaide this weekend.”
Throughout the week, the 25-year-old has leaned on the experiences of her teammates, some of whom featured in the Tigers’ 2022 finals campaign.
“(The advice) is mainly just to enjoy the game, enjoy the lead-up to it, and have fun,” Greiser said.
“The intensity and the pressure (of the game) is going to go up, so just taking that on, and going the next step.”
Richmond’s sole finals appearance in the AFLW competition came in 2022, where it bowed out in straight sets.
Greiser says the team is determined to secure its first finals victory this Sunday.
“Everyone’s really hungry, and we’re so excited,” she said.
“We just missed out last year, so we’ve put in a lot of hard work this season, I feel like we’re playing some really good footy and we’re playing the way we want to play…I’m so excited to see how we go.”
Greiser says the 21-point victory over Port Adelaide in Week 5 gives her side “heaps of confidence.”
“We can back ourselves in and play our footy, and if we bring that we’re going to be tough to beat,” she said.
“Being in an elimination final, it’s going to be a really tough contest.”
“We know that we need to bring our footy and play our way. It’s going to be such a tight contest, so looking forward to it.”
