Nick Vlastuin has experienced plenty of highs throughout his playing career at Richmond.

The star defender, who made his AFL debut in 2013, was a significant contributor to the Tigers’ recent dynasty.

Times are tough at Tigerland these days with the team on the bottom of the ladder having won only two games in season 2024.

Vlastuin’s individual level of performance, however, has not diminished.

In fact, the 30-year-old is playing some of the best football of his 230-game career with the Tigers.

He is averaging 19.6 disposals, 6.0 contested possessions, 6.6 marks, 5.8 rebound-50s, 8.2 intercepts and 400.5 metres gained per match this season.

Competition-wide, he is ranked second for intercepts and sixth for rebound-50s.

Vlastuin’s performance against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium yesterday epitomised the form he’s been in throughout 2024.

He had 21 disposals, six marks, five rebound-50s, five score involvements, seven intercepts and 433 metres gained.

Time and again, he repelled the Roos’ attacking moves in trademark strong and bold style.

It’s a credit to Vlastuin that he remains totally committed to the Yellow and Black cause regardless of the team’s on-field struggles.
