Daniel Rioli was a standout for Richmond in last night’s loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
The 27-year-old, star rebounding defender produced arguably the best performance of what has been an excellent season by him.
He finished the match with a team-high and season-high 28 disposals, nine contested possessions, five marks, three inside-50s, an equal game-high seven rebound-50s, equal game-high 10 intercepts, four tackles and a team-high 631 metres gained.
And, to top it all off, he ran forward to boot two team-lifting goals.
So far this season, Rioli is averaging an AFL career-high 22.4 disposals, a career-high 6.0 contested possessions, 3.4 marks, career-high 4.3 rebound-50s, 3.7 score involvements, 5.4 intercepts, 3.0 tackles, a career-high 2.6 bounces and 376.3 metres gained.
He is ranked third in the competition for total bounces.
Rioli’s teammate Rhyan Mansell was glowing in his praise of the triple premiership Tiger hero during a post-match interview with Richmond Media.
“Daniel’s a freak. He’s real quick, no-one can keep up with him, and love a half-back that can run and kick goals,” Mansell said.
