Trent Cotchin’s soccer style volley against West Coast was voted the best goal of the year by Richmond fans.
The goal was clearly the favourite among almost 2000 votes cast at richmondfc.com.au, claiming 37 percent of the vote.
The Tiger captain’s six-pointer came against West Coast in Round 18, at a rain-soaked Patersons Stadium.
It occurred in the first minute of the third quarter, when Brett Deledio gathered the ball at half forward and kicked long to the goal square.
The kick cleared Ty Vickery and looked destined to slide through for a behind, but Cotchin didn’t give up, tracking the ball down and flinging his right boot to it.
From a near-impossible angle, the ball sailed through to give the Tigers a handy 17-point lead.
