Tenacious ‘ball-magnet’ midfielder Anthony Miles couldn’t be happier with life at his new football home at Tigerland.
Miles, in just his second season with Richmond after being delisted by Greater Western Sydney, won the Fred Swift Medal for finishing fourth in the 2015 Best and Fairest count held earlier this week.
The 23-year-old heaped praise on the Tigers in his acceptance speech for the way they’d treated him from the outset of his time with them.
“Ever since I walked through the doors at Richmond, you’ve been nothing but welcoming to me and been awesome for me,” Miles said.
“Obviously, it’s pretty tough coming from being delisted to a new club, but I’ve been so welcomed.
“Everything that people have said about the culture of the Richmond Football Club couldn’t be more true . . .
“I can’t thank the Richmond Football Club enough, for giving me an opportunity. Basically, bringing me off the scrapheap . . .
“And, to ‘Dimma’ (coach Damien Hardwick) and the coaching staff for the belief you’ve shown in me, and everything . . .”
