The penultimate round of the 2013 home-and-away season produced a record-breaking spree by Richmond against Greater Western Sydney at Skoda Stadium.

Richmond’s final score of 25.13 (163) was its highest since Round 21, 1996, when it registered 28.19 (187) against Fitzroy at the MCG.

The Tigers’ winning margin of 121 points, was their biggest since that Round 21, 1996 clash with the Lions, which they won by 151 points, and the sixth-greatest in the Club’s league football history.

And, yesterday’s second-quarter score of 11.5 was their highest in any term since slamming on 11.7 against the Lions in the final quarter of that 1996 encounter.

It also was the equal-sixth highest score in any quarter by a Richmond team in Tigerland history.

The half-time score on Sunday of 15.9 (99) was Richmond’s highest since Round 9, 1980 (the Club’s last premiership year), when it had 16.8 (104) on the board against Melbourne (on the way to a final score of 29.21 and a 93-point win).

Incredibly, the half-time lead of 80 points against the GWS, was Richmond’s biggest advantage over any team at the main break, since Jack Dyer’s debut way back in 1931.  In that Round 2, 1931 match against North Melbourne at Punt Road, the Tigers led by a whopping 107 points at half-time before going on to win by a Club record 168 points.
