Richmond speedster Matthew White has described the devastation he felt at missing out on the Tigers’ first finals appearance in 12 years.

White, a 105-game veteran of eight seasons with the Club, was ruled out of the elimination final against Carlton due to a hamstring injury sustained in the last home-and-away round clash with Essendon.

The Tigers missed the valuable, lightning run-and-carry he’d provided in his role as a high forward throughout the 2013 season.

“It was one of the most frustrating weeks of my life missing the elimination final,” White told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I tried to do everything I possibly could to get up for it, but, unfortunately, the body just didn’t allow it in the end.

“To miss out on the (Club’s) first final in 12 years . . . I still haven’t played a finals series as an AFL player.

“I was gutted with the way it all ended and gutted that I didn’t play, so I’ll be fighting pretty hard to get there next year.

“Sitting there watching it, having to deal with what was going on, and knowing that I couldn’t do anything to help, it lit a little fire under me.

“I think I had a fire there at the end of last year, after not playing a lot of games.  This year, there’s a new one that says you better play finals, because that killed . . .”
