Damien Hardwick’s three-year contract extension beyond the 2018 season means he will not only become Richmond’s longest-serving coach during that period, he’ll also move into the top 30 and perhaps top 25 on the AFL’s all-time list for games coached.

Hardwick’s 182 games as Richmond coach has him third on the coaching tenure table at Tigerland behind Club ‘Immortals’ Tommy Hafey (248 games) and Jack Dyer (222 games).

In terms of league football’s games coached list, Malcolm Blight is in 30^th place with 250 games, while Mark ‘Choco’ Williams holds down 25^th spot with 274 games.

Hardwick will have a minimum of 88 games as the Tigers’ coach throughout the next four seasons (plus, hopefully, quite a few more finals).

The 2017 Richmond premiership coach ranks third among current-day AFL coaches for games coached, with only Alastair Clarkson (305) and Ross Lyon (262) ahead of him.
