Richmond AFLW coach Ryan Ferguson says Sunday's 35-point win over Hawthorn was due reward for effort, after his side showed promise in the opening two rounds.
"We've been working towards it for a while and playing some really good footy but not quite getting some scoreboard result, so it's good to get the first win," Ferguson said post-match.
"We focused on all the small things. Particularly with the rain in the second half, it was just 'get down and get dirty' and work really hard, that was the focus."
Star midfielder Monique Conti continued her sizzling start to the season with a 23-disposals, three-goal performance.
"She's able to work both ways, put some pressure on and lay some tackles, but when the time is right, our mids have got to get dangerous and they did today," Ferguson said.
"It was good to see Grace Egan getting forward and even Eilish Sheerin off the back flank.
"When it's time to attack we've got to attack, so it was good to see a few players putting some pressure on the opposition."
Former No. 1 draft pick Ellie McKenzie put in a dominant display, playing a hand in multiple goals to go along with her 17 disposals, five marks and a goal.
"We thought she had a really high impact today, with the ball and without the ball, strong in the air strong on the ground," Ferguson said.
"She set up our first two goals, and gave us a real impetus into the game and then finished strong."
In an arm-wrestle of a clash, Ferguson said it was important for the Tigers to stick to their processes.
"There's not many teams that are going to give it to you your way for a whole game (but) if you engage in the scrap and engage in the fight and stick to our game and trust our game, we feel like we're a good enough team to eventually overwhelm and get the score on the board," he said.
Tiger veteran Courtney Wakefield once again was a strong presence up forward, finishing with six marks and a goal.
"She's getting better and better at providing a reliable contest up forward," Ferguson said.
"Sometimes it'll end up in multiple goals and sometimes it's just giving us that consistency that the smalls can get at her feet. She's putting together a good block of footy."
