Richmond has opted to forego a pre-season camp this year, preferring to train exclusively at its ME Bank Centre headquarters at Punt Road.

The Tigers, who held a pre-season camp in Arizona in 2011 and were in Cairns last year, believe their impressive new home facilities will provide them with everything they need in preparation for the 2014 season.

“This year, we’re going to stay in Melbourne.  We’re not going to have a pre-season camp,” Richmond’s Elite Performance Manager Peter Burge told ‘Roar Vision’.

“Given that the AFL pre-season is a little bit shorter due to the earlier start of the season, we’re going to do it all at home at our new facility here.

“We’ve only been on the ground not even 12 months now.

“It’s all fairly new and we feel that we don’t really need to go anywhere to get that training.  So we’ll do it all here and prepare in Melbourne.”
