The intensive attention to defensive detail of star Richmond key backman Alex Rance is highlighted through his impressive efforts in the one-percenters’ category this season.
One third of the way through the 2017 home-and-away rounds, Rance is ranked a clear No. 1 for one-percenters (knock-ons, spoils, smothers, shepherds) in the competition.
After finishing with 14 one-percenters against Fremantle at the MCG last Sunday, he now has a total of 91 in eight games, which is 16 ahead of his nearest rival, Port Adelaide’s Thomas Jonas.
Rance, an All-Australian representative for the past three years, was ranked No. 1 overall for one-percenters competition-wide in 2015 and was eighth last season.
