Richmond chalked up its century against Melbourne in last Sunday’s clash at the MCG.

It was the Tigers’ 100th victory over the Demons since joining the then VFL competition in 1908.

The 100-wins milestone is something Richmond has achieved against just two other clubs - St Kilda (102) and Sydney (102).

The Tigers have played Melbourne 181 times all-up, for 100 wins, 79 losses and two draws.

Ironically, Richmond’s first-ever match of league football was against Melbourne, in the opening round of the 1908 season.  The Tigers won that clash by 11 points - 8.14 (62) to 7.9 (51).

Richmond’s longest winning streak against the Demons is nine, which it achieved twice - from 1965-70, and then from 1971-75.

The Tigers’ biggest victory over them is 93 points, in Round 9 of the 1980 season at the MCG, and their highest score in a clash with the Dees came in Round 2, 1942 at Punt Road, when they piled on 30.16 (196).
