Valued veterans Trent Cotchin, Jack Riewoldt and Shane Edwards have broken new ground in their illustrious AFL careers at Richmond.
The champion trio yesterday played in their first MCG win against North Melbourne.
Admittedly, matches between the Tigers and Kangaroos at the MCG have been somewhat scarce throughout the past 15 years. But yesterday’s 33-point victory snapped Richmond’s five-game non-winning streak against the Roos on the hallowed MCG turf.
The Tigers had lost four and drawn one of their five previous MCG encounters with North.
Round 11, 2006 was the last time Richmond had beaten the Roos at the MCG before yesterday’s clash. In that game, ruckman Troy Simmonds received the three Brownlow Medal votes for his 21-disposal, 10-mark display and forward Kayne Pettifer polled one vote after kicking four goals.
Here is the tale of the Tigers’ troubles (until yesterday) v North Melbourne at the MCG . . .

Round 16, 2009 – draw: 12.13 (85) to 12.13 (85).
